Frequently Asking Questions

What kind of firefighter training is on the BCF platform?

The BCF platform focuses on practical, operational firefighter training — the kind that applies directly to the fireground. Topics include engine company operations, incident command, water rescue, aerial apparatus positioning, search and rescue, RIT and mayday operations, pump operations, officer development, and probie training. We also cover firefighter fitness and fire service leadership. New content is added regularly.

Who are the instructors on the BCF Training Platform?

BCF works with working and recently retired firefighters from departments across North America. Our instructors have come from FDNY, Houston Fire Department, Bridgeport Fire Department, DeKalb County Fire Rescue, Ann Arbor Fire Department, Elizabeth Fire Department, and others. Every instructor is selected for their operational credibility and ability to communicate what they know clearly.

Is BCF a good fit for probationary firefighters?

Yes. The platform is built to serve every rank, and new firefighters get real value from day one. We're actively building a dedicated Probie Development series that covers the foundational knowledge, mindset, and situational awareness every new firefighter needs. The on-demand format means probies can work through content between shifts, on their own time, at their own pace.

Can officers and senior firefighters use the platform?

Hey! I’m a paragraph. Help your visitors to learn more about your business by editing me.

Does BCF offer certificates or CEUs for completed training?

At this time, BCF does not issue formal certifications or CEUs. We are actively working toward CEU accreditation as the platform grows. What BCF provides is substantive training content that many firefighters and departments use as supplemental education alongside their formal training programs. We'll update members as soon as accreditation becomes available.

Can my fire department get a group account?

Yes, and it's one of the best ways to use the platform. Department accounts include individual logins for every member, group billing, and the ability to monitor member viewing activity so training officers can track engagement. Pricing scales with department size — starting at $76.60 per member per year for departments of 10 or more, with lower rates at higher member counts. Contact support@bluecollarfiremen.com to set up a department account.

How is BCF different from free firefighter training resources like UL FSRI or Fire Hero Learning Network?

Free platforms like FSRI and Fire Hero Learning Network are valuable resources and we respect what they offer. BCF fills a different lane. Our content is practitioner-led, fireground-focused, and built around the culture and operational realities of the job — not institutional research or compliance requirements. BCF is for firefighters who want training that feels like it was made by someone who's actually done the job, not written by a committee. Many BCF members use both.

How often is new content added?

BCF hosts at least one live class per month, and all sessions are added to the on-demand library after airing. In addition to live classes, we are actively producing structured short-form series — new segments in those series are released on a rolling schedule. The Water Rescue series is currently in production, with Engine Company Fundamentals, Probie Development, and Officer Development series coming in 2026.

Is there a community or forum component to the platform?

Yes. BCF members have access to a community forum — a moderated space where firefighters from across the country connect, discuss training topics, and share experience. It's designed to be a low-noise environment where people who actually care about the job can have real conversations without the negativity that dominates most social media.

Can I give a BCF membership as a gift to another firefighter?

Yes. BCF gift cards are available directly through the platform. They're a good option for departments that want to cover individual memberships, or for anyone looking to give a working firefighter access to quality training. Purchase a gift card at app.bluecollarfiremen.com/gift_cards/new.
